§591.103. Maximum uniform allowance rate.
5 C.F.R. § 591.103
Unless a higher initial maximum uniform allowance rate is payable under § 591.104 or other agency authority or specific appropriation to an employee who is required by statute, regulation, or an agency's written administrative procedures to wear a uniform, the head of an agency, out of funds available, must—
Pay an allowance for a uniform not to exceed $1,500 a year; or
Furnish a uniform at a cost not to exceed $1,500 a year.
If an agency purchases a uniform directly from a vendor, the agency can spend up to 4 percent on service charges but the total cost of the uniform and any service charges cannot exceed the maximum allowance set forth in paragraph (a)(2) of this section.
