About

This is a fast, accessible web edition of the United States Code. It turns citations into live links, previews cross-references instantly, and archives every official release point published by the Office of the Law Revision Counsel since 2013—making it easy to inspect historical revisions and compare releases side-by-side.

Features

Instant citation previews: Hover over any citation to read the referenced provision without navigating away from the page.

Inbound cross-references: See which other sections and subsections cite the provision you're currently reading.

Version history & diffs: View any section at any historical release point since 2013, or run a direct diff between two releases to see exact statutory changes over time.

Private local notes: Attach personal notes directly to provisions. Your notes are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage and are never transmitted to our server.

Fast search: Autocomplete matches section numbers and headings instantly in your browser as you type; pressing Enter performs a full-text search across the entire Code.

Permanent links: URLs link directly to specific provisions and pinned release versions, so links you share always open to the exact text you intended.

AI & MCP integration: Connect AI assistants and legal research agents directly via the Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server for full-text search, statutory retrieval, citation parsing, Shepardizing citator backlinks, and legislative diffs.

Source & Provenance

All statutory text is generated from the official USLM XML files published by the Office of the Law Revision Counsel (OLRC) at uscode.house.gov.

This site is an independent, open project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. House of Representatives, the OLRC, or the federal government. While we take great care to maintain accurate text and cross-references, uscode.house.gov remains the authoritative legal source.

Feedback & Corrections

Every cross-reference includes a "Report a problem" link that opens an email pre-populated with the relevant citation. For bug reports, suggestions, or general feedback, write to [email protected].
