§240.227. Reliance on qualification requirements of other countries.

A railroad that conducts joint operations with a Canadian railroad may certify, for the purposes of compliance with this part, that a person is qualified to be a locomotive or train service engineer provided it determines that:
The person is employed by the Canadian railroad; and
The person meets or exceeds the qualifications standards issued by Transport Canada for such service.
Any Canadian railroad that is required to comply with this regulation may certify that a person is qualified to be a locomotive or train service engineer provided it determines that:
The person is employed by the Canadian railroad; and
The person meets or exceeds the qualifications standards issued by Transport Canada for such service.
