§35.25-5. Repairs of boilers and unfired pressure vessels and reports of repairs or accidents by Chief Engineer—TB/ALL.

(a)
Before making any repairs to boilers or unfired pressure vessels, the Chief Engineer must submit a report covering the nature of the repairs to the Officer in Charge, Marine Inspection, at or nearest to the port where the repairs are to be made.
(b)
In the event of an accident to a boiler, unfired pressure vessel, or machinery tending to render the further use of the item itself unsafe until repairs are made, or if by ordinary wear such items become unsafe, a report must be made by the Chief Engineer immediately to the Officer in Charge, Marine Inspection, or, if at sea, immediately upon arrival at port.
