§147.9. Waivers.

46 C.F.R. § 147.9

(a)
Any requirement in this part may be waived on a case by case basis if it is determined by Commandant (CG-ENG) that the requirement is impracticable under the circumstances and that an acceptable level of safety can be maintained.
(b)
Requests for issuance of a waiver must be in writing and contain a detailed explanation of—
(1)
Why the requirement is impracticable; and
(2)
What measures will be taken to maintain an acceptable or equivalent level of safety.
