  • (B) For a psychiatric unit, the requirements under § 412.27(a).
  • (2) The inpatient psychiatric facility must identify a principal psychiatric diagnosis as specified in § 412.27(a) for each patient. CMS adjusts the Federal per diem base rate by a factor to account for the diagnosis-related group assignment associated with the principal diagnosis, as specified by CMS.
    (i) CMS adjusts the Federal per diem base rate to account for patient age based on age groupings specified by CMS.
