§5.10. Eligibility for membership.

To be eligible for membership in the Auxiliary, a person must—
Be a United States citizen, a national of the United States or of its Territories and possessions, or an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence; and
Meet the standards for enrollment, retention, and conduct established by the Commandant.
An applicant who is accepted for membership will be enrolled in the Auxiliary and will be issued a membership certificate and identification card. Possession of a membership certificate or identification card does not entitle a person to any rights or privileges of the Coast Guard or the Coast Guard Reserve except as authorized by the Commandant.
