§174.1. Purpose.

Establishes policy, assigns responsibilities, and implements base closure laws and associated provisions of law relating to the closure and the realignment of installations. It does not address the process for selecting installations for closure or realignment.

Authorizes the publication of DoD 4165.66-M, “Base Redevelopment and Realignment Manual,” in accordance with DoD 5025.1-M 1 , “DoD Directive System Procedures,” March 2003.
