§170.513. When and how are bridge inspections performed?

25 C.F.R. § 170.513

(a)
All bridges identified on the NTTFI must be inspected under 23 U.S.C. 144.
(b)
Employees performing inspections as required by § 170.513(a) must:
(1)
Notify affected Tribes and State and local governments that an inspection will occur;
(2)
Offer Tribal and State and local governments the opportunity to accompany the inspectors; and
(3)
Otherwise coordinate with Tribal and State and local governments.
(c)
The person responsible for the bridge inspection team must meet the qualifications for bridge inspectors as defined in 23 U.S.C. 144.

§170.514. Who reviews bridge inspection reports?

25 C.F.R. § 170.514

The person responsible for the bridge inspection team must send a copy of the inspection report to BIADOT. BIADOT:
(a)
Reviews the report for quality assurance and works with FHWA to ensure the requirements of 23 U.S.C. 144 are carried out; and
(b)
Furnishes a copy of the report to the BIA Regional Office, which will forward the copy to the affected Tribe.
