This Act may be cited as the “Tribal Conservation Priorities Inclusion Act”.
Tribal Conservation Priorities Inclusion Act
A BILL
To amend the Food Security Act of 1985 to include Indian Tribes in certain provisions relating to priority resource concerns.
Sec. 2 Inclusion of Indian Tribes in provisions relating to priority resource concerns
Environmental quality incentives program— Section 1240A(7) of the Food Security Act of 1985 (16 U.S.C. 3839aa–1(7)) is amended—
in subparagraph (A)—
by inserting “tribal,” before “or local”; and
by inserting “or an area on tribal land (as defined in section 2601 of the Energy Policy Act of 1992 (25 U.S.C. 3501))” after “of a State”; and
in subparagraph (B), by inserting “or on tribal land (as so defined)” after “State or region”.
Conservation stewardship program— Section 1240I(5) of the Food Security Act of 1985 (16 U.S.C. 3839aa–21(5)) is amended—
in subparagraph (A)—
by inserting “tribal,” before “or local”; and
by inserting “or an area on tribal land (as defined in section 2601 of the Energy Policy Act of 1992 (25 U.S.C. 3501))” after “of a State”; and
in subparagraph (B), by inserting “or on tribal land (as so defined)” after “State or region”.
Stewardship contracts— Section 1240K(b)(3) of the Food Security Act of 1985 (16 U.S.C. 3839aa–23(b)(3)) is amended—
by striking “that the Secretary determines are” and inserting “as the Secretary determines to be”; and
by inserting “tribal,” before “and local”.
Critical conservation areas— Section 1271F(a)(2)(C) of the Food Security Act of 1985 (16 U.S.C. 3871f(a)(2)(C)) is amended by inserting “tribal,” before “or local”.
Technical correction— Section 1201(a)(14) of the Food Security Act of 1985 (16 U.S.C. 3801(a)(14)) is amended—
by striking “section 4(e)” and inserting “section 4”; and
by striking “450b(e)” and inserting “5304”.
