Section 1 Short title
This Act may be cited as the “Federal Mechanical Insulation Act of 2026”.
A BILL
To amend the National Energy Conservation Policy Act to include the installation of mechanical insulation property as an energy or water efficiency measure, and for other purposes.
“(E) Mechanical insulation property—The term mechanical insulation property means insulation material, facing, or accessory product that—
“(i) is placed into service—
“(I) in connection with a mechanical system; and
“(II) in a manner that meets or exceeds the minimum requirements of Standard 90.1 of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (as in effect on the date of enactment of the Federal Mechanical Insulation Act of 2026); and
“(ii) results in a reduction in energy loss from the mechanical system.”
