Section 1 Increased flexibility in transferability of Post-9/11 Educational Assistance
Eligibility— Subsection (b) of section 3319 of title 38, United States Code, is amended by striking “at least—” and all that follows through the period at the end and inserting “at least six years of service in the uniformed services”.
Time for transfer— Subsection (f)(1) of title 38, United States Code, is amended—
by striking “or (l)”; and
by striking “only while serving as a member of the Armed Forces when the transfer is executed” and inserting “at any time”.
Conforming amendments— Such section is amended—
in subsection (g)—
in paragraph (1), by striking “at least —” and all that follows through “; or” and inserting “at least six years of service in the Armed Forces; or”; and
in paragraph (2)(A), by striking “at least —” and all that follows through “; or” and inserting “at least six years of service in the Armed Forces; and”;
in subsection (i)—
by striking paragraph (2); and
by striking the following:
“(1) Joint and several liability”
in subsection (j)(2)—
in subparagraph (A), by striking the semicolon and inserting “; and”;
by striking subparagraph (B); and
by redesignating subparagraph (C) as subparagraph (B);
by striking subsection (k); and
by redesignating subsection (l) as subsection (k).
