(a)
Definitions— In this section:
(1)
Campus— The term campus has the meaning given the term in section 485(f)(6)(A)(ii) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (
20 U.S.C. 1092(f)(6)(A)(ii)).
(2)
Institution of higher education— The term institution of higher education has the meaning given the term in section 102 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (
20 U.S.C. 1002).
(3)
Secretary— The term Secretary means the Secretary of Education.
(b)
Authorization of grant program— The Secretary shall award grants, on a competitive basis, to institutions of higher education to enable the institutions to hire veterans as campus security personnel.
(c)
Application— An institution of higher education that desires to receive a grant under this section shall submit an application to the Secretary at such time, in such manner, and accompanied by such information as the Secretary may reasonably require.
(d)
Use of funds— An institution of higher education that receives a grant under this section shall use the grant funds to hire veterans as campus security personnel for the campus of the institution.
