This Act may be cited as the “Rural Safety Administration Flexibility Act”.
Rural Safety Administration Flexibility Act
A BILL
To amend title 23, United States Code, to modify the percentage of highway safety program funds required to be spent by political subdivisions, and for other purposes.
Sec. 2 Highway safety programs
Section 402(b) of title 23, United States Code, is amended—
in paragraph (1)(C), by inserting “(or, in the case of a rural State, 20 percent)” after “40 percent”; and
by adding at the end the following:
“(3) Definition of rural State—In this subsection, the term rural State means any State, the population density of which is below the national average (as determined based on data from the most recent decennial Census).”
