Aviation Weather Safety Improvement Act
A BILL
To amend title 49, United States Code, to ensure each Center Weather Service Unit is adequately staffed for the safe and efficient movement of aircraft in air commerce, and for other purposes.
Sec. 2 Center Weather Service Unit staffing
“(8) coordinate with the Director of the National Weather Service, the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration, and the exclusive bargaining representatives of air traffic control specialists of the Federal Aviation Administration and employees of the National Weather Service certified under section 7111 of title 5, United States Code, to ensure each Center Weather Service Unit is adequately staffed in order to provide for the safe and efficient movement of aircraft in air commerce in accordance with subsection (a).”
“(c) Reports on Center Weather Service Unit staffing—Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this subsection and annually thereafter, the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate a report on the implementation of paragraph (8) of subsection (b).”
