Ensuring Veterans’ Final Resting Place Act of 2025
A BILL
To amend title 38, United States Code, to authorize the provision of certain additional burial benefits for individuals for whom an urn or plaque is furnished, and for other purposes.
Sec. 2 Expansion of eligibility for Department of Veterans Affairs headstones, markers, and burial receptacles for certain individuals
Subsection (b)(2) of section 2306 of title 38, United States Code, is amended in subparagraphs (B) and (C) by striking “who dies on or after November 11, 1998,” each place it appears.
Sec. 3 Department of Veterans Affairs provision of additional burial benefits when an urn or plaque is provided
In general— Subsection (h) of such section is amended—
in paragraph (1), by striking “In lieu of furnishing a headstone or marker under this section for” and inserting “In the case of”;
by striking paragraph (2);
by redesignating paragraphs (3) through (5) as paragraphs (2) through (4), respectively; and
in paragraph (1) by striking “paragraph (3)” and inserting “paragraph (2)”.
Applicability— The amendment made by subsection (a) shall apply with respect to an individual who dies on or after January 5, 2021.
Sec. 4 Extension of certain limits on payments of pension
Section 5503(d)(7) of title 38, United States Code, is amended by striking “November 30, 2031” and inserting “May 31, 2033”.
