Expanding Health Care Providers for Veterans Act

A BILL

To amend section 214(g)(5) of the Immigration and Nationality Act to remove the numerical limitation on nonimmigrant aliens issued a visa or otherwise provided status under section 101(a)(15)(H)(i)(b) of such Act in the case of an alien who is employed at the Department of Veterans Affairs, and for other purposes.

Section 1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the “Expanding Health Care Providers for Veterans Act”.

Sec. 2 Admission of nonimmigrants

(a)
Removing numerical limitation— Section 214(g)(5) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1184(g)(5)) is amended—
(1)
in subparagraph (B), by striking “or” at the end;
(2)
in subparagraph (C), by striking the period at the end and inserting “; or”; and
(3)
by adding at the end the following:

“(D) is employed (or has received an offer of employment) at the Department of Veterans Affairs or a State home (as defined in section 101(19) of title 38, United States Code) recognized and certified by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.”

(b)
Effective date— The amendment made by subsection (a) shall take effect 6 months after the date of the enactment of this Act.
(c)
Inapplicability of presidential proclamation— The Presidential Proclamation entitled “Restriction on Entry of Certain Nonimmigrant Workers”, dated September 19, 2025, or any substantially similar restriction on the entry into the United States of aliens as nonimmigrants under section 101(a)(15)(H)(i)(b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(15)(H)(i)(b)) implemented via Executive order or Presidential proclamation, shall not apply to any nonimmigrant described in section 214(g)(5)(D) of such Act (8 U.S.C. 1184(g)(5)(D)), as added by this section.
