A BILL
To direct the Secretary of Agriculture to carry out an awareness campaign with respect to spotted lanternflies.
Sec. 2 Spotted lanternfly awareness campaign
In general— The Secretary of Agriculture (in this section referred to as the “Secretary”) shall carry out a national campaign to increase the awareness and knowledge of the public with respect to spotted lanternflies.
Required activities— In carrying out the national campaign under this section, the Secretary shall—
place public service announcements on television, radio, and billboards in areas of high incidence of spotted lanternflies that—
inform individuals of the fact that spotted lanternflies are an invasive pest that threaten local agriculture; and
encourage individuals to kill any spotted lanternflies that such individuals encounter; and
use such other awareness tools as the Secretary determines appropriate to provide the information described in paragraph (1).
