Automatic emergency braking system— The term automatic emergency braking system has the meaning given the term in section 127 of part 571 of title 49, Code of Federal Regulations.

Covered vehicle— The term covered vehicle includes passenger cars, multipurpose passenger vehicles, and trucks with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 4,536 kilograms (10,000 pounds) or less.

Multipurpose passenger vehicle— The term multipurpose passenger vehicle means a motor vehicle that—
(A)
is capable of carrying a maximum of 10 people; and
(B)
is built—
(i)
on a truck chassis; or
(ii)
with special features for occasional off-road use.
(4)
Passenger car— The term passenger car means a motor vehicle that—
(A)
is capable of carrying a maximum of 10 people; and
(B)
is not a motorcycle, trailer, or multipurpose passenger vehicle.
(5)
Secretary— The term Secretary means the Secretary of Transportation.
(6)
Vulnerable road user— The term vulnerable road user—
(A)
has the meaning given the term in section 148(a) of title 23, United States Code; and
(B)
includes bicyclists, motorcyclists, and other cyclists.
