(a)
Definitions— In this section:
(1)
Appropriate congressional committees— The term appropriate congressional committees means—
(A)
the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs of the Senate; and
(B)
the Committee on Oversight and Accountability and the Committee on Homeland Security of the House of Representatives.
(2)
Director— The term Director means the Director of National Intelligence.
(3)
Inspector General— The term Inspector General means the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community.
(b)
Declassification required— The Director shall, in consultation with the Secretary of Homeland Security, the Attorney General, and such other officials as the Director considers appropriate, declassify any and all information relating to the failed assassination attempt on the life of Donald J. Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, 2024, including any and all information relating to—
(1)
the identity, motive, method, and actions of the shooter;
(2)
requests for additional resources or protective measures for Donald J. Trump, his campaign, his organization, or any entity involved in preparing for the event;
(3)
preparations for the event in Butler, Pennsylvania, by the United States Secret Service and other law enforcement entities;
(4)
response by United States Secret Service to the shooter; and
(5)
information on the ensuing investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and any other investigating agency.
(c)
Report by Director of National Intelligence— The Director shall submit to Congress an unclassified report that contains—
(1)
all the information described under subsection (b); and
(2)
only such redactions as the Director determines are strictly necessary to protect sources and methods.
(d)
Report by Inspector General of the Intelligence Community— Not later than 30 days after the date that the Director submits to Congress the report required by subsection (c), the Inspector General shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees a report assessing whether the Director complied with the requirements of this section.
