Section 1 Short title
This Act may be cited as the “Deregulating Restrictions on Interstate Vehicles and Eighteen-wheelers Act” or the “DRIVE Act”.
Deregulating Restrictions on Interstate Vehicles and Eighteen-wheelers Act
A BILL
To prohibit the Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration from issuing a rule or promulgating a regulation requiring certain vehicles to be equipped with speed limiting devices, and for other purposes.
Sec. 2 Prohibition on requiring speed limiting devices
Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration may not issue any rule or promulgate any regulation to require vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of more than 26,000 pounds operating in interstate commerce to be equipped with a speed limiting device set to a maximum speed.
