This Act may be cited as the “Conservation and Regenerative Optimization Practices for Farming Act” or the “CROP for Farming Act”.
Conservation and Regenerative Optimization Practices for Farming Act
A BILL
To amend the Food Security Act of 1985 to address emissions of certain greenhouse gasses and carbon storage through conservation incentive contracts.
Sec. 2 Conservation incentive contracts
Section 1240B(j) of the Food Security Act of 1985 (16 U.S.C. 3839aa–2(j)) is amended—
in paragraph (1)(A), by striking “concerns” and inserting “concerns, which may include emissions of nitrous oxide or methane (referred to in this subsection as greenhouse gas emissions) or storage of carbon in plants or soil (referred to in this subsection as carbon storage),”; and
in paragraph (2)(A)(ii)(I), by striking “conservation” and inserting “conservation, reductions of greenhouse gas emissions, or increased levels of carbon storage”.
