Section 1 Short title
This Act may be cited as the “Military Recreational Land Act of 2023 ”.
Military Recreational Land Act of 2023
A BILL
To amend title 10, United States Code, to authorize the Secretary of Defense or the Secretary of a military department to enter into cooperative agreements to manage certain recreational resources in California.
Sec. 2 Authority for management of certain recreational resources in California through cooperative agreements
in the section header, by inserting “and recreational” after “cultural”;
in subsection (a)—
in the first sentence—
by inserting “or recreational resources” after “cultural resources”; and
by striking “the cultural resources” and inserting “those resources”; and
in the second sentence, by inserting “, if any funds are required” before the period at the end;
in subsection (b)—
in the subsection header, by striking “cultural resources”; and
by striking “cultural”; and
in subsection (d)—
by amending the subsection header to read as follows: “Definitions.—”;
by redesignating paragraphs (1) through (5) as subparagraphs (A) through (E), respectively, and moving those subparagraphs, as so redesignated, two ems to the right;
by striking “In this section, the term” and inserting “In this section:
“(1) The term”
by adding at the end the following new paragraph:
“(2) The term recreational resource means a site that is included in the state seashore of California, as described in section 5001.6 of the Public Resources Code of California, or successor similar provision, and will be operated as a park unit in the California State Park system by the California Department of Parks and Recreation.”
Clerical amendment— The table of sections at the beginning of chapter 159 of such title is amended by striking the item relating to section 2684 and inserting the following new item:
