Transparency in Taxpayer-Funded Travel Act

RESOLUTION

Requiring Members of the House of Representatives whose Members’ Representational Allowance is used to pay expenses incurred for official travel to provide the Chief Administrative Officer of the House of Representatives with detailed information on the travel, and for other purposes.

Section 1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the “Transparency in Taxpayer-Funded Travel Act”.

Sec. 2 Requiring Members whose Members’ Representational Allowance is used for travel expenses to provide detailed travel information to Chief Administrative Officer

(a)
Information required— If the Members’ Representational Allowance for the office of a Member of the House of Representatives is used to pay expenses incurred for official travel, the Member shall provide the Chief Administrative Officer of the House of Representatives with the following information with respect to the travel:
(1)
The identification of the individual who incurred the expenses.
(2)
The date on which the expenses were incurred.
(3)
The location at which the expenses were incurred.
(4)
The identification of each recipient of a payment for the expenses.
(5)
The nature of the official and representational duties which were carried out while the individual engaged in the travel.
(b)
Inclusion in quarterly disbursement reports— The Chief Administrative Officer shall include the information provided under subsection (a) in the quarterly statement of disbursements of the House.
(c)
Effective date— This section shall apply with respect to expenses incurred on or after the date of the adoption of this resolution.
