Juror Non-Discrimination Act of 2024
A BILL
To amend title 28, United States Code, to clarify that protection for jurors on the basis of sex includes sexual orientation and gender identity.
Sec. 2 Juries
“(l) “gender identity” shall mean the gender-related identity, appearance, mannerisms, or other gender-related characteristics of an individual, regardless of the individual’s designated sex at birth;
“(m) “sex” shall include—
“(1) a sex stereotype;
“(2) pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition;
“(3) sexual orientation or gender identity; and
“(4) sex characteristics, including intersex traits;
“(n) “sexual orientation” shall mean homosexuality, heterosexuality, or bisexuality; and
“(o) “race”, “color”, “religion”, “sex” (including “sexual orientation” and “gender identity”), “economic status”, or “national origin”, used with respect to an individual, includes—
“(1) the race, color, religion, sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity), economic status, or national origin, respectively, of another person with whom the individual is associated or has been associated; and
“(2) a perception or belief, even if inaccurate, concerning the race, color, religion, sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity), economic status, or national origin, respectively, of the individual.”
