This Act may be cited as the “Child Status Fairness and Modernization Act”.
Child Status Fairness and Modernization Act
A BILL
To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to modify the time at which age is assessed for the purpose of determining whether an alien is an immediate relative.
Sec. 2 Age requirement
Section 201(f)(2) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1151(f)(2)) is amended—
by amending the heading to read as follows: “Age requirement in case of parent naturalization.—”; and
by striking “age of the alien on the date of the parent’s naturalization” and inserting “the date on which the petition was initially filed”.
