This Act may be cited as the “Affordable Housing Stability During Shutdowns Act of 2023”.
Affordable Housing Stability During Shutdowns Act of 2023
A BILL
Making appropriations for certain Federal housing programs in the event of a Government shutdown.
Sec. 2 Funding for section 8 rental assistance vouchers during Government shutdown
There are hereby appropriated for fiscal year 2024, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, such sums as are necessary to provide assistance, during the period of a lapse in discretionary appropriations beginning on or after the date of the enactment of this section and at a rate for operations and under the terms and conditions provided for such assistance in fiscal year 2023, under the following programs:
The housing choice voucher program for rental assistance under section 8(o) of the United States Housing Act of 1937 (42 U.S.C. 1437f(o)), including the program under paragraph (13) of such section for project-based voucher assistance.
The program for project-based rental assistance under section 8 of such Act (42 U.S.C. 1437f).
The program for assistance for supportive housing for the elderly under section 202 of the Housing Act of 1959 (12 U.S.C. 1701q).
The program for assistance for supportive housing for persons with disabilities under section 811 of the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act (42 U.S.C. 8013).
The program for rental assistance for rural multifamily housing under title V of the Housing Act of 1949 (42 U.S.C. 1471 et seq.).
