(a)
In general— Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Agriculture, acting through the Chief of the Forest Service, shall establish fences and barriers around old growth trees (including visible roots) in the Joyce Kilmer-Slickrock Wilderness Area that are located within 10 feet of the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Trail such that the fences and barriers separate such trees from such Trail.
(b)
Requirements— The Secretary of Agriculture, acting through the Chief of the Forest Service, shall establish fences and barriers under subsection (a) in a manner that—
(1)
is least disruptive to the wildlife and wilderness characteristics of the Joyce Kilmer-Slickrock Wilderness Area; and
(2)
will require the least amount of maintenance.
