This Act may be cited as the “Specialty Crop Research Act of 2023”.
Specialty Crop Research Act of 2023
A BILL
To amend the Agricultural Research, Extension, and Education Reform Act of 1998 to reauthorize the Specialty Crop Research Initiative, and for other purposes.
Sec. 2 Reauthorization of Specialty Crop Research Initiative
Section 412 of the Agricultural Research, Extension, and Education Reform Act of 1998 (7 U.S.C. 7632) is amended—
in subsection (j), by striking paragraph (5); and
in subsection (k), by amending paragraph (1) to read as follows:
“(1) Mandatory funding—Of the funds of the Commodity Credit Corporation, the Secretary shall make available to carry out this section—
“(A) $80,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2014 through 2023; and
“(B) $130,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2024 through 2028.”
Sec. 3 Funding for Inter-Regional Research Project Number 4
Subsection (e) of the Competitive, Special, and Facilities Research Grant Act (7 U.S.C. 3157(e)) is amended—
in paragraph (7), by inserting “$50,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2024 through 2028,” after “1991,”; and
by adding at the end the following:
“(8) Of the funds of the Commodity Credit Corporation, the Secretary shall make available to carry out this subsection $50,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2024 through 2028.”
