No Funds for Armed Regulators Act of 2023

A BILL

To prohibit the use of Federal funds to hire armed Federal regulatory enforcement officers in certain agencies.

Section 1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the “No Funds for Armed Regulators Act of 2023”.

Sec. 2 Prohibition on armed Federal regulatory enforcement officers

(a)
In general— No Federal funds may be used to hire or retain armed Federal regulatory enforcement officers in the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Labor, or the Environmental Protection Agency.
(b)
Federal regulatory officers described— In this section, the term “Federal regulatory enforcement officer” refers to any individual hired by a Federal agency to enforce laws, rules, or regulations for that agency through any tactical means, including use of force or weapons.
