CDC Leadership Accountability Act of 2023

To accelerate the applicability of the requirement that the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention be appointed by the President, by and with the consent of the Senate.
Sec. 2 Accelerating applicability of requirement that CDC Director be confirmed by Senate
“(b) Applicability
“(1) In general—The first sentence of section 305(a) of the Public Health Service Act, as added by subsection (a), applies with respect to any Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention appointed on or after June 1, 2023.
“(2) Special rule—Any individual appointed during the period beginning on June 1, 2023, and ending on the date of enactment of this Act to serve as the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is deemed to be serving in an acting capacity until the requirements of the first sentence of section 305(a) of the Public Health Service Act, as added by subsection (a), are met.”
