To establish programs to address addiction and overdoses caused by illicit fentanyl and other opioids, and for other purposes.

Section 1 Short title; table of contents

(a)

Short title— This Act may be cited as the “Support, Treatment, and Overdoses Prevention of Fentanyl Overdoses Act of 2023” or the “STOP Fentanyl Overdoses Act of 2023”.

(b)

Table of contents— The table of contents for this Act is as follows:

Sec. 2 Definitions

In this Act, except as otherwise provided:

(1)

The term Assistant Secretary means the Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use.

(2)

The term Secretary means the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

(3)

The term fentanyl-related substance has the meaning given the term in section 1308.11(h)(30)(i) of title 21, Code of Federal Regulations (or successor regulations).
