Section 1 Short title
This Act may be cited as the “Noise Data Collection Act”.
Noise Data Collection Act
A BILL
To require the Secretary of Transportation to periodically report the number of individuals in the United States who are exposed to certain levels of aviation noise, and for other purposes.
Sec. 2 Reporting requirements
In general— Not less frequently than annually, the Secretary of Transportation, acting through the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration, shall submit to Congress, including the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives, and make publicly available, a report describing, for each year for which the report is submitted, the estimated number of individuals in the United States exposed to aviation noise at each of the following day-night average sound levels:
65 dBA.
55 dBA.
46 dBA.
Retroactive reporting— In the first report submitted under subsection (a), the Secretary shall include an estimation of the number of individuals in the United States exposed to aviation noise at the levels described in such subsection for each year during the period beginning on January 1, 2010, and ending on the last day of the year preceding the year for which the first report is submitted.
Inclusion in other reports—
In general— For any covered report in which the estimated number of individuals exposed to aviation noise at a day-night average sound level of 65 dBA is reported, the Secretary of Transportation shall ensure that such report includes the estimated number of individuals exposed to aviation noise at day-night average sound levels of 55 dBA and 46 dBA.
Definition— In this subsection, the term “covered report” means any report, publication, presentation, or testimony submitted by, or presented on behalf of, the Department of Transportation, including the Federal Aviation Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
