To address the history of discrimination against Black farmers and ranchers, to require reforms within the Department of Agriculture to prevent future discrimination, and for other purposes.

Section 1 Short title; table of contents

(a)

Short title— This Act may be cited as the “Justice for Black Farmers Act of 2023”.

(b)

Table of Contents— The table of contents for this Act is as follows:

Sec. 2 Definitions

In this Act:

(1)

Secretary— The term Secretary means the Secretary of Agriculture.

(2)

Socially disadvantaged farmer or rancher; socially disadvantaged group— The terms socially disadvantaged farmer or rancher and “socially disadvantaged group” have the meanings given such terms in section 2501(a) of the Food, Agriculture, Conservation, and Trade Act of 1990 (7 U.S.C. 2279(a)).
