Emergency Vehicles Responsiveness Act of 2024

A BILL

To exempt diesel-fueled emergency vehicles from certain air pollution requirements, and for other purposes.

Section 1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the “Emergency Vehicles Responsiveness Act of 2024”.

Sec. 2 Exempting diesel-fueled emergency vehicles from certain air pollution requirements

Section 203 of the Clean Air Act (42 U.S.C. 7522) is amended by adding at the end the following:

“(c) Exemption for diesel-Fueled emergency vehicles

“(1) Exemption—Any diesel-fueled emergency vehicle or diesel-fueled emergency vehicle engine is deemed to be exempt from subsection (a)(1).

“(2) Definition—In this subsection, the term “emergency vehicle” means a vehicle designed to be used under emergency conditions—

“(A) to transport personnel and equipment; and

“(B) to support the suppression of fires and mitigation of other hazardous situations.”
