Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no Federal funds may be used for settlement payments to individuals who, as a result of their violation of section 275(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (
8 U.S.C. 1325(a)), and in accordance with the policy described in the memorandum of the Attorney General regarding “Zero-Tolerance for Offenses Under 8 U.S.C. § 1325(a)”, issued on April 6, 2018, were detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection if such payments are intended to compensate such individuals for being separated from family members during such detention.
