This Act may be cited as the “Reducing Plastics in Wastewater Act”.
Reducing Plastics in Wastewater Act
A BILL
To amend the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to make certain activities for the removal of plastic waste and post-consumer materials from wastewater eligible for assistance under the State water pollution control revolving funds, and for other purposes.
Sec. 2 Removal of plastic waste and post-consumer materials
Projects and activities eligible for assistance— Section 603(c) of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act (33 U.S.C. 1383(c)) is amended—
in paragraph (11)(B), by striking “; and” and inserting a semicolon;
in paragraph (12)(B), by striking the period at the end and inserting “; and”; and
by adding at the end the following:
“(13) for the construction of improvements to treatment works owned and operated by a municipality to reduce and remove plastic waste and post-consumer materials, including microplastics and microfibers, from wastewater.”
Additional subsidization— Section 603(i)(1) of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act (33 U.S.C. 1383(i)(1)) is amended—
in subparagraph (A)(ii)(III), by striking “; or” and inserting a semicolon;
in subparagraph (B)(iv), by striking the period at the end and inserting “; or”; and
by adding at the end the following:
“(C) for an activity described in subsection (c)(13).”
