Keep on Trucking Act
A BILL
To amend title 49, United States Code, to prohibit the Secretary of Transportation from issuing regulations relating to maximum hours of service for drivers of certain commercial motor vehicles, and for other purposes.
Sec. 2 Requirements for qualifications, hours of service, safety, and equipment standards
“(1) In general—The Secretary of Transportation may prescribe requirements for—”
“(2) Exception—Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Secretary may not prescribe requirements for maximum hours of service of a driver operating a property-carrying commercial motor vehicle.”
“(g) Hours of service requirement—Any driver operating a property-carrying commercial motor vehicle on behalf of a motor carrier or a motor private carrier shall be permitted at least 10 consecutive hours in a 24-hour period off duty when such driver informs the motor carrier or motor private carrier that such driver needs immediate rest.”
