Communities Deserve Cops Act

A BILL

To amend the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 to provide for law enforcement officer bonuses.

This Act may be cited as the “Communities Deserve Cops Act”.

Subsection (b) of section 1701 of title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (34 U.S.C. 10381) is amended—

(1)

in paragraph (22), by striking “and” at the end;

(2)

in paragraph (23), by striking the period at the end and inserting a semicolon; and

(3)

by adding at the end the following:

“(24) to provide a signing bonus for a law enforcement officer in an amount not to exceed $5,000; and

“(25) to provide a retention bonus for a law enforcement officer in an amount not to exceed $5,000.”
