Protecting Charter Schools from Federal Overreach Act of 2022

A BILL

To prohibit the Secretary of Education from finalizing or implementing a rule submitted by the Secretary relating to charter school programs, and for other purposes.

Section 1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the “Protecting Charter Schools from Federal Overreach Act of 2022”.

Sec. 2 Prohibition on finalization or implementation of proposed rule

The Secretary of Education may not finalize or otherwise implement the rule submitted by the Secretary relating to “Proposed Priorities, Requirements, Definitions, and Selection Criteria-Expanding Opportunity Through Quality Charter Schools Program (CSP)-Grants to State Entities (SE Grants); Grants to Charter Management Organizations for the Replication and Expansion of High-Quality Charter Schools (CMO Grants); and Grants to Charter School Developers for the Opening of New Charter Schools and for the Replication and Expansion of High-Quality Charter Schools (Developer Grants)” (published at 87 Fed. Reg. 14197 (March 14, 2022)) or any substantially similar rule.
