Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Reauthorization Act

A BILL

To amend title V of the Public Health Service Act to reauthorize the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act, and for other purposes.

Section 1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the “Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Reauthorization Act”.

Sec. 2 Suicide Prevention Resource Center

Section 520C of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 290bb–34) is amended—
(1)
in subsection (a), by striking “tribes, tribal organizations” and inserting “Tribes, Tribal organizations”;
(2)
in subsection (b), by striking “tribal” each place it appears and inserting “Tribal”; and
(3)
in subsection (c), by striking “$5,988,000 for each of fiscal years 2018 through 2022” and inserting “$9,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2023 through 2027”.

Sec. 3 Garrett Lee Smith State and Tribal Youth Suicide Prevention and Early Intervention Grant Program

Section 520E of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 290bb–36) is amended—
(1)
in subsection (a), by striking “tribal” each place it appears and inserting “Tribal”;
(2)
in subsection (b)(1)(C)—
(A)
by striking “Indian tribe or tribal organization” and inserting “Indian Tribe or Tribal organization”; and
(B)
by striking “tribal youth” and inserting “Tribal youth”;
(3)
in subsection (c), in the matter preceding paragraph (1), by striking “tribal” each place it appears and inserting “Tribal”;
(4)
in subsection (e)(3), by striking “tribal” and inserting “Tribal”; and
(5)
in subsection (m), by striking “$30,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2018 through 2022” and inserting “$40,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2023 through 2027”.

Sec. 4 Garrett Lee Smith Campus Suicide Prevention Program

Section 520E–2(i) of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 290bb–36b(i)) is amended by striking “2018 through 2022” and inserting “2023 through 2027”.

Sec. 5 Mental and Behavioral Health Outreach and Education

Section 549(f) of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 290ee–4(f)) is amended by striking “2018 through 2022” and inserting “2023 through 2027”.
