To require verification of immigration status for receipt of assisted housing benefits, and for other purposes.
2. Mandatory immigration status verification for assisted housing benefits
Section 214(d) of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1980 (42 U.S.C. 1436a(d)) is amended—
by striking “Immigration and Naturalization Service” each place it appears and inserting “Secretary of Homeland Security”; and
in paragraph (1)(A), by striking “may request verification of the declaration” and inserting “shall request verification of the declaration”.
