(a)
Annual reports— Not later than 180 days after the commencement of the study under section 4, and annually thereafter, the Secretary of Agriculture shall evaluate the progress of that study and report any short-term findings to the Committee on Natural Resources and the Committee on Agriculture of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry of the Senate.
(b)
Report and recommendations— Not later than 2 years after the commencement of the study under this Act, the Secretary of Agriculture shall submit to the Committee on Natural Resources and the Committee on Agriculture of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry of the Senate a report summarizing the results of the study together with any recommendations for legislative or regulatory action to improve soil health, increase carbon sequestration, and improve community benefits of soil health programs on Federal lands.
