Uniting and Strengthening American Liberty Act of 2017

A BILL

To amend the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 to clarify and improve the procedures and accountability for authorizing certain acquisitions of foreign intelligence, to extend title VII of such Act, to ensure that the barriers to sharing critical foreign intelligence among the intelligence community that existed before September 11, 2001, are not reimposed, and for other purposes.

Section 1 Short title; table of contents

(a)
Short title— This Act may be cited as the “Uniting and Strengthening American Liberty Act of 2017” or the “USA Liberty Act of 2017”.

Sec. 2 Amendments to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978

Except as otherwise expressly provided, whenever in this Act an amendment or repeal is expressed in terms of an amendment to, or a repeal of, a section or other provision, the reference shall be considered to be made to a section or other provision of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (50 U.S.C. 1801 et seq.).
