This Act may be cited as the “Fruit and Vegetable Access for Children Act of 2017”.
Fruit and Vegetable Access for Children Act of 2017
A BILL
To amend the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act to include canned, dried, frozen, and pureed fruits and vegetables in the fresh fruit and vegetable program.
Sec. 2 Fruit and vegetable program
In general— Section 19 of the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act (42 U.S.C. 1769a) is amended—
in the section heading, by striking “Fresh”; and
in subsections (a), (b), and (e), by inserting “, canned, dried, frozen, or pureed” after “fresh” each place it appears.
Conforming amendments— Section 14222(c) of the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008 (7 U.S.C. 612c–6(c)) is amended—
in the subsection heading, by striking “Fresh”; and
by striking “fresh”.
