In General— Not later than 60 days after the date of enactment of this section, the Secretary and the Administrator shall jointly establish a pilot program for parallel review of eligible medical products that is similar to the “Pilot Program for Parallel Review of Medical Products” described in the notice of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, published in the Federal Register on October 11, 2011 (76 Fed. Reg. 62808) (referred to in this subsection as the “pilot program”). Such pilot program shall not affect the applicable criteria or standards for approving, clearing, or classifying medical products under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (
21 U.S.C. 301) and shall not affect the criteria and standards relating to determinations about a reimbursement designation or a national coverage determination under the Medicare program under title XVIII of the Social Security Act.
