Stop Cloture Abuse Resolution

RESOLUTION

To amend the Standing Rules of the Senate to modify the provision relating to timing for filing of cloture motions.

Section 1 Short title

This resolution may be cited as the “Stop Cloture Abuse Resolution”.

Sec. 2 Time pre-cloture

Paragraph 2 of rule XXII of the Standing Rules of the Senate is amended in the first undesignated subparagraph—

(1)

by inserting “after the end of the 24-hour period beginning at the time the Senate proceeds to consideration of a measure, motion, or other matter” after “at any time”; and

(2)

by striking “any measure” and inserting “the measure”.
