Section 1 Short title
This Act may be cited as the “Manufacturing Skills Act of 2014”.
Manufacturing Skills Act of 2014
A BILL
To establish a program that promotes reforms in workforce education and skill training for manufacturing in States and metropolitan areas, and for other purposes.
Sec. 2 Definitions
In this Act:
Eligible entity— The term eligible entity means a State or a metropolitan area.
Institution of higher education— The term institution of higher education means each of the following:
An institution of higher education, as defined in section 101(a) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1001(a)).
A postsecondary vocational institution, as defined in section 102(c) of such Act (20 U.S.C. 1002(c)).
Manufacturing sector— The term manufacturing sector means a manufacturing sector classified in code 31, 32, or 33 of the most recent version of the North American Industry Classification System developed under the direction of the Office of Management and Budget.
Metropolitan area— The term metropolitan area means a standard metropolitan statistical area, as designated by the Director of the Office of Management and Budget.
Partnership— The term Partnership means the Manufacturing Skills Partnership established in section 101(a).
State— The term State means each of the several States of the United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, Guam, American Samoa, the United States Virgin Islands, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
