SNAP Fraud Prevention Act of 2013

A BILL

To amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to prevent the payment of cash to recipients of supplemental nutrition assistance for the return of empty bottles and cans used to contain food purchased with benefits provided under such Act.

Section 1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the “SNAP Fraud Prevention Act of 2013”.

Sec. 2 Amendments

Section 3(k)(1) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (7 U.S.C. 2012(k)(1)) is amended—

(1)

by striking “and hot foods” and inserting “hot foods”, and

(2)

by adding at the end the following:

Sec. 3 Effective date

This Act and the amendments made by this Act shall take effect 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act.
