# §1437. Resident Philippine citizens excepted from certain requirements


Any [person](/usc/8/1101.md?p=b-3) who (1) was a citizen of the Commonwealth of the Philippines on July 2, 1946, (2) entered the [United States](/usc/8/1101.md?p=a-38) prior to May 1, 1934, and (3) has, since such entry, resided continuously in the [United States](/usc/8/1101.md?p=a-38) shall be regarded as having been lawfully [admitted](/usc/8/1101.md?p=a-13-A) to the [United States](/usc/8/1101.md?p=a-38) for [permanent](/usc/8/1101.md?p=a-31) [residence](/usc/8/1101.md?p=a-33) for the purpose of applying for [naturalization](/usc/8/1101.md?p=a-23) under this subchapter.
